Dear Friends of Machaseh Children's Ranch
As I write this letter on Mother's Day, I am thankful for all of the great examples of how God put families in place.
In John's sermon today, he spoke of how Mary, the mother of Jesus, loved her son, prayed for His well-being, had a vision
for His life.
My own mom was wonderful. Her life's work was being a wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and
great-great grandmother. She told me once that we, her children and their children, were her legacy. In that same light, I
was able to celebrate my dad's 90th birthday with him on May 2nd. I have been blessed with parents who ALWAYS put my needs
before their own. They were my refuge, just as God designed the family to be.
Unfortunately, not all parents follow
the instructions and examples that God has given us for the family. Many of the children that will be coming to Machaseh Children's
Ranch will not have good experiences with parents. The vision that John and I have had is to have these kids connect with
a family unit versus being placed in an institution type setting. We want to break the cycle. Having said that, God has not
revealed who the house parents should be. I wanted to put out a plea for prayer for the house parents. We know that God will
provide, but we wanted you to be a part of that provision by praying with us. Our prayer has been for God to place His choice
of parents who will become many children's examples of how God designed the family.
The logistical things of getting
the ranch started has consumed a lot of our time and energy. I am pleased to say that the house is going very well. Thanks
to the teams that came last summer, my in-laws, Jack and Shirley Scudder, and Fred Ballard for all of their time and work.
We have a team coming in June to do some final work on the deck, finish the basement and do some ranch work. It won't
be completely done, but hopefully far enough along for the team to stay in the house. As far as final construction, we are
thinking the house will be done by the end of summer, or early fall.
On a personal note, many of you know that I had
spine surgery in November. I still have lifting limitations until the hardware completely fuses, but I feel great. Thank you
all for your prayers. I think my illness drained John and I. This resulted in our lack of communication to you all. For that,
we apologize. We are committing to keep everyone informed on MCR progress.
As we look forward to what the next several
months will bring, we would ask that you join us in praying for the following things:
• House parents • Working
with DFS and the State of Wyoming • Safety for the teams coming to help with the house • Pray for the children God
will bring to us
Your continued prayerful support of us and the ministry of Machaseh Children's Ranch is greatly appreciated!
May God bless you and yours,
Debbie Scudder,
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence,
and his children will have a place of refuge. Prov. 14:26
